Proceeds from the Sale of a Cookbook created by Norway Savings Bank Employees Donated to Five Food Pantries in Five Maine Communities  

NORWAY, Maine — November 22, 2016 — Norway Savings Bank employees have raised $10,000 to help feed Maine families struggling with food insecurity by tapping into their passions and creativity. As part of the bank’s 150th anniversary celebration, employees decided to create a limited-edition cookbook called Colorful Cooking Solutions filled with more than 100 easy-to-make sweet and savory family-style recipes from the kitchens of bank employees and their families. The cookbook was sold at the bank’s 24 branches for $10 each over several months. This month the bank reached its goal of raising $10,000 through the sale of cookbooks and selected five food pantries located in Brownfield, Brunswick, Lewiston, Norway, and Portland to receive $2,000 each.

Norway Savings Bank responds to matching grant to support Rufus Porter Museum

Norway, Maine – History is what makes up who we are and where we stand. Without history where would we be? The Rufus Porter Museum is a prime example of local history. Thanks to the 19th century wall murals and building construction from the 18th century, the museum can tell us a story without words. With their “On the Move” campaign in full swing, the museum is almost ready to move the “Nathan Church House” from its current location of 67 North Street to 121 Main Street, in the heart of Bridgton’s downtown. The red cape will cost approximately $10 per foot to move. Norway Savings Bank donated $5,000 to help with the move.

On Earth Day, Norway Savings Environmental Initiative Helps the World See Green

Six-year effort confirms environmental and financial impact 

NORWAY, Maine – It is said that corporate America can do well by doing good. As Earth Day approaches, an Environmental Recycling Activity Report, recently provided to Norway Savings Bank by the bank’s recycling partner, confirms that a six-year paperless initiative and recycling effort is making a significant environmental and economic impact.

The report, issued by Secure RMS, recognized Norway Savings Bank as a socially responsible business that has collected and processed over 176,000 pounds (88 tons) of paper for recycling in the last six years. The report outlined the savings are equivalent to: 

  • 1,498 trees saved
  • 616,630 gallons of water saved
  • 361,169 kilowatts of energy saved
  • 5,285 pounds of pollutants kept out of the atmosphere; and
  • 440 cubic yards of landfill saved

Heart Association's Go Red Luncheon Gathers Close to 600 People, Exceeds Fundraising Goal

Fryeburg Academy Student Wins First Place in National Video Contest

FRYEBURG, ME – Chris Choyce, a senior at Fryeburg Academy, won first place in the American Bankers Association’s Lights, Camera, Save! national video contest. The announcement was made today in a video broadcast via the association’s YouTube channel.

Chris submitted his video entry to Norway Savings Bank to compete at the local level of the contest. Norway Savings Bank was one of about 120 banks and branches who hosted local levels of the competition and selected a winner to represent their bank and compete on the national level. Norway Savings Bank Contributes Time and Treasure to Riding To The Top

WINDHAM, MAINE - On Thursday May 15th a group of bankers could be seen pitching in with farm chores at Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center - and it wasn’t the first time.
